Coming on the heels of the recent news that Japanese regulators are trying to legalize casinos, the American Gaming Association has welcome Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and members of the Diet to Washington DC. The AGA holds a very important role in informing lawmakers about the benefits of a legal casino industry. These include economic and tourism development which could help the country’s economy greatly.
The AGA is trying to emphasize three key areas of interest to the Japanese and other countries who are trying to develop their gambling market: the economic benefit of casinos, anti-money laundering efforts and the industry’s commitment to regulated and responsible gaming.
According to Oxford Economics, gambling in the US is a $240 billion industry that offers 1.7 million jobs and generates upwards of $38 billion in taxes. This industry also provides a good path to the middle class for workers of all backgrounds and working experiences who can find jobs in more than 200 different careers.
Responsible gaming is a main issue for the gaming industry. Since AGA was established, all of its member companies and their employees have made responsible gambling one of their main priorities. They have dedicated millions to proper research into the world of gambling disorders and they publish informational resources on responsible gaming for casino companies and patrons alike.
