India has a huge population which in recent years seems to have become more and more interested in gambling. Industry experts say that the market is currently booming with new casinos opening up everywhere and more and more companies vying to get licenses in the country. This is all a direct effect of the ascending middle class, especially the young ones, wanting to game and have fun with their personal money.
It seems that middle-aged and older men are still sticking to what they know. Most of them have illegal bookies which they’ve known their entire lives and fully trust. They mostly bet on cricket and soccer and prefer illegal bookies because they make them feel safe while spending their hard-earned cash. And on the other end of the spectrum we have younger men who use the internet regularly and prefer online gambling. The common denominator is cricket, it seems, given that both groups love to bet on it.
Gambling experts also add that the gambling jurisdictions in India are still very grey. The regulation in place was written a long time ago making it pretty ineffective in dealing with all the problems which may arise in modern gambling. They also warn that firms should pay careful attention to the Indian public when they set up their customer support lines. If they truly want to succeed in this market they will have to first understand the target public in order to offer the best experience possible.
