New changes are on the horizon for the Bermuda Gaming Commission. Richard Schuetz, former commissioner for the California Gambling Control Commission, is to be the BGC’s new executive director. Schuetz has held his commissioner position for 4 successful years and is ready to move up to the next level.
Schuetz is new to Bermuda overall. He commenced work in Bermuda on September 1st and so far proceedings are favourable. He is owner of the consulting services firm named Schuetzinc. Through this company he lent his expertise to various gambling operators in need of direction. Schuetz’ previous occupations include CEO and Executive Vice president for well-known hotels and casinos.
Searching his name on LinkedIn will yield details about his educational history. He has earned a Science Bachelor from the University of Nevada-Reno and a Ph.D., as well as a Masters from the University of Utah in Philosophy and Economics.
He maintained good relations with the University of Nevada-Reno, and besides having an impressive track record in the casino gambling operator sector, was also a board member for the International Advisory board for the Institute for the Study of Gambling Commercial Gaming at the university.
Schuetz was quoted saying “It is a true honor to be entrusted with such an important task, and I am thrilled to be able to work hand-in-hand with the people of Bermuda to usher this new chapter of Bermuda’s tourism and economic development.”
Also newly selected at the beginning of this year, Chairman Alan Dutch commented: “All of us at the Commission are thrilled to have Richard join us in helping to introduce casinos in Bermuda.”
